BTCP: William Doyle / Naomi Randall

  • The Smokehouse 6 South Street Ipswich, England, IP1 3NU United Kingdom (map)

Brighten The Corners Presents experimental electronic songwriter William Doyle at The Smokehouse on Wednesday 25th October.

Support comes from folk singer-songwriter Naomi Randall.

It’s nearing a decade since William Doyle released his Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album, Total Strife Forever, as East India Youth in 2014. A year later, he had toured the world and was releasing his second album, Culture of Volume, but it would be another four years before Doyle returned with his third full album, and the first official release under his own name. The dizzyingly ambitious Your Wilderness Revisited arrived in 2019 and was followed in 2021 by the art-pop masterpiece, Great Spans of Muddy Time. A fifth album is being readied for release in 2024, recorded in his new hometown of Margate; it is his most ambitious, dynamic and immediate record yet.

“Towering, impenetrable walls of shimmering synth pads bookend crackling noise carpets, weirdo vocal processing experiments poke through scattered, abstract musique concrète, and skeletal sketches contrast dense, compacted soundscapes.” The Quietus
