Freakverbration present a good night of indie music with a few bands on Fierce Panda & Label Fandango.

Leaone (pronounced ‘Lee-own’) is a smouldering new talent from Beccles in Suffolk. Ostensibly one man with a deep, rich vocal sound which has seen him described as the missing link between Leonard (Cohen) and Lana (Del Ray), ‘Fly, My Swallow’ is Leaone’s third ever single following 2016’s lush, lovelorn DIY (em)brace of ‘Young Green Eyes’ and ‘Goldtooth’.

Backed by live guitar, drums, keys and a multitude of symphonic effects Leaone eased into 2017 with a perfectly-balanced triplet of shows in Norwich, Dalston and Stowmarket. Continuing the East Anglian theme, the seaside scenes in the ‘Fly, My Swallow’ video were filmed at Holkham beach on the North Norfolk coast. Leaone follows that trick with two single release shows, as detailed below.

Produced by the singer himself, and mixed by Jim Lowe (Stereophonics), Leaone wrote the elegant, gallant ‘Fly, My Swallow’ in his parent’s attic after a series of events (losing his girlfriend, losing his job and getting mugged) led him back home to his native East Anglia. But don’t think these losses make Leaone a loser – ‘Fly, My Swallow’ might wallow in misery but the muscular melodies suggest a redemptive tone.

Following live shows with the likes of Emmy The Great, Idlewild’s Roddy Woomble, Wooden Arms, Desperate Journalist and Animal Noise and bolstered by radio support from both BBC Introducing Norfolk AND Suffolk Leaone is now prepping for the release of a full fat four-track EP release on fierce panda in the spring.

Intriguingly, in an interview with M Magazine late last year, when asked why music was important Leaone replied: “Because it helps to contain my madness”. Something quietly sensational this way comes…

Softer Still are an indie dream-pop band from Shepperton, Surrey consisting of wide-eyed sonic explorers Grant Williams (lead vocals/guitar), Ellie O'Shea (backing vocals/bass), Alexander Williams (guitar) and Ollie Kitson (drums).

'Wishing Well' is the first single to come from the blissed-out quartet’s second EP Visions Of You. It’s a wistful, dreamy track which follows on from their self-titled EP released in November 2016, a record that attracted attention from the NME, Clash, BBC Introducing and Steve Lamacq, as well as catching the ear of American shoegazers DIIV, who invited Softer Still to support them at London's Electric Ballroom in September.

'Stunning new single...Anchored by a twisting guitar riff, it’s a delightfully breezy and laid-back sunbathing anthem with an undeniably catchy melody' - NME

Jetstream Pony are Brighton/Croydon based, and come from a common love for power-pop, post punk and indie-pop.

Flames of the Lizard Birds, a local fever dream of rock n roll with a psychedlic element.
